Of the two settings of the Gloria found on this recording, the RV 588 is the lesser known. The highpoint of this piece, which may be the earlier of the two Glorias, is the beautiful cascading lines in the ‘Et in terra pax’ movement. The 589 is one of the most frequently performed choral works of Vivaldi today.
