First performed at the Teatro Sant’Angelo in Venice in 1727, this is one of the only of Vivaldi’s operas to have been performed or known before the 21st century, having been notably performed and recorded by Marilyn Horne. It contains a magnificent mad scene and has enjoyed several modern revivals.
